Tezos, Ticker code XTZ, is a smart contract platform which promotes the fundamental ideas of on-chain governance and self-amendment. Tezos was founded in June 2018 by former Morgan Stanley analyst, Arthur Breitman. Tezos hosts smart contracts on an Ethereum-like blockchain and enables it’s community to vote on and implement changes to the network. Token holders can delegate these voting rights to other users within the network. The blockchain’s native token XTZ utilizes a generic network shell which enables various transactions and consensus protocols which blockchains require to be compatible.
Its model uses a liquid of stake that allows nodes to validate blocks to be added to the blockchain. Another name for them are ‘bakers’ which acquire rewards for staking XTZ to create newly mined coins after successfully validating blocks and adding them on the blockchain.
