Cardano is a leading Cryptocurrency project launched in September 2017 by Charles Hoskinson and Jeremy Wood, who both played pivotal roles in the establishment of Ethereum. Cardano was created with the intention to improve upon existing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum aiming to achieve greater scalability, interoperability, and sustainability at a level not yet reached in the industry. It does so using a unique proof of stake algorithm called Ouroboros. The native currency used on the Cardano blockchain is called Ada, which is stored in its own unique wallet, known as the Daedalus wallet.
This wallet allows users to stake their Ada and achieve passive income. Ada has a maximum supply of $45 billion with only a portion of which in circulation with nor more than 0.3% of the reserve ADA will be released every 5 days. The project's recent success has also given it the nickname 'Ethereum killer' as it aims to become the number one Smart Contract Platform. Coverage of Cardano is brought to you by Platypus Terminal.
