Z-Cash was launched in 2016 by Zooko Wil through the Electronic Coin Company (ECC). Zcash was built upon the original Bitcoin code and started fork of Bitcoin itself. Much like Bitcoin users of Zcash can transact digital currency, fast efficiently and safely with low fee’s. However as a Fork Bitcoin, Zcash was founded with the intention to create a more private method to conduct transactions in a decentralized manner. This can be seen as an anonymous payments system as opposed to Bitcoins pseudonymous payments system.
Z-Cash achieves this through private t addresses and transparent z addresses completing transactions using zk-SNARKs. This allows the verification of transactions with limited information. In November 2021 the ECC announced a roadmap for the development on User experience, a change in consensus mechanism and market and regulatory engagement and official ECC wallet and improve from 2022 to 2025. Moving forward privacy coins are likely to remain in focus as individuals prioritize privacy in our often invasive world.
