Chainlink provides a bridge between information stored on blockchains and data feeds from the real world. These data feeds might include weather information, stock market data or gambling odd's, which are often required for the function of smart contracts and decentralised applications. This off-chain information is bought, sold and collateralised using the Chainlink platforms native token, LINK, which has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens.
The Price of Link is linked to the demand for off-chain data by smart contract operators as Link must be locked up to access the data. Further the growing interest in Defi and Dapps is also price positive for Chainlink.
