Ripple, ticker code XRP, is a leading payments solutions provider leveraging the power of blockchain technology to innovate the banking system. Ripple was first established in 2004 by Ryan Fugger under the name RipplePay with the same goal in mind. In 2014 the company was passed to Chris Larsen and Jeb McCaleb who founded OpenCoin which was eventually renamed Ripple Labs. Ripple services banks and other financial institutions under its own currency called XRP managed using a protocol called RTXP.
Ripples Native currency known as XRP has a total and maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, which were pre-mined at the protocol’s inception. Therefore, XRP is deflationary by definition. The XRP token aims to provide liquidity for fast and efficient cross-border transactions. Ripple has already partnered with a variety of Institutions including, Bank of America, Standard Chartered, American Express, Santander and Westpac.
